The Star Stealers
“They were not always known as the Star Stealers. Their grandparents danced beneath the arms of the galaxies, fireflies dancing in the sky until the heavens themselves seemed to sway to the sound of their music. But their children found flames, and put them in little spaces. And for every light they lit down below, another above would disappear. As they filled their cities with lights, the land itself became a flickering nebulae. But the skies turned black, and the Star Stealers stared into the empty darkness of the night. Now, their children wondered if it had been wise to pick the stars out of the sky. They began to turn off the lights, and for every one a star came back to life. The children learned to dance again in the darkness, as the sky showered down the majesty of existence.”
